Did you see Russell Henley win at Hogan’s Alley? Open Stance strikes again! Ben Hogan would have been impressed that Russell did exactly what he used to do…. Beat ‘em with accuracy. Russell had a very Hoganesque week – leading the Driving Accuracy, GIR, and Strokes Gained Approach categories through Saturday’s round. Sunday he shot 67, so I doubt there was much fall-off.

As usual, Stripey McFindagreens sailed through a field struggling to find fairways, while he hit frozen ropes all week. Russ, predictably, turned it left and right at will. Isn’t it interesting, however, that he scored best, relative to the rest of the field, when the golf course showed its teeth. Watch out for Russ at Shinnecock. That’s all I’m sayin.
